The course has helped me again a lot of knowledge on the practicality of teaching within a classroom. I have implemented what I have learnt through this course at my voluntary position, and to my great fortune I was successful in securing a paid LSA role in a Secondary school, due to my interview responses. The information shared at my interview was based on what this course had taught me. I’d like to say a special thank you to Nicola for being so concise with her teaching style and making us all feel more involved.
Regarding the support from an external professional perspective I felt the Developing Your Potential team were outstanding. The course was delivered and adapted to suit everyone’s needs. If there were problems or hiccups they were dealt with promptly. Homework was marked and feedback given on a weekly basis which helped not only our individual learning and development but also injected enthusiasm and motivation to continue. I am sure like for many of us doing homework and getting back into education can be daunting but the trainer always valued each individuals comments and homework and constructively gave support and guidance where needed. Well done to Developing Your Potential.
I enjoyed the course because of the interactive element and also how the course was structured. It was clear even before starting the course what the content would be each week and how to submit the assignments. My tutor was knowledgeable and encouraged questions and group discussions which were interesting and enabled the topic in question to be covered in more depth. The presentation slides were clear and concise enabling my tutor to explain each point with further examples. I have been trying for four years to become a teaching assistant (or a similar role) and for the first time I am confident that Developing Your Potential can help based on the course and the prior conversations I have had with a consultant, whereas other agencies have failed to deliver on any level from my experience.
A review of standards for teaching assistants was launched in 2015. The standards were drafted by a working group of experts, commissioned by the DfE. The review aimed to replace the current set
